Who we are

What the map shows, and where it comes from

Camp positions and facilities come from OpenStreetMap, used under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), and from public registries. From-prices are collected daily from campsites’ own public web pages by a crawler that respects robots.txt and limits its request rate.

A from-price is an advertised figure, not a quote and not a guaranteed rate: what you pay is set by the campsite for your dates and party. Camps running on PitchPace supply live prices and availability directly, and those are marked as live.

None of this is data about you. It describes places and tariffs.

Opening the map on your country

So the map does not open on the wrong continent, your approximate country is derived from your IP address using a local country database. The IP address is used for that lookup and dropped — it is not logged, not stored and not attached to anything. If the lookup is unavailable we fall back to the region your browser asks for.

Visitor statistics without cookies

We count visits with our own first-party statistics. They set no cookie and write nothing to your browser. A visit is attributed to a hash of your IP address and browser string salted with a random value that changes every day; the salt is deleted after two days and the IP address itself is never stored, so yesterday’s visitor cannot be linked to today’s.

What is kept is the page visited, the referring website’s domain, campaign parameters if you arrived from one, and coarse device/browser/operating-system classes. We see aggregate counts, not profiles. Nothing is sold, and there are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no advertising, profiling or third-party cookies. It uses only the following, all first-party:

pp_lang — remembers the language you pick with the language selector. Written only when you actually change the language, kept for one year.

pp_guest and pp_guest_csrf — created only if you sign in to a guest account. They hold the session and the anti-forgery token that protects it. They are limited to this host, the session cookie cannot be read by scripts, and both are cleared when you sign out; the session itself expires after 14 days without use, the cookies after 30 days.

pp_app_card_closed — remembers that you closed the mobile app offer, including in new tabs and future visits. It is stored locally in your browser until you clear this site’s data and is never sent to us. If persistent storage is blocked, it lasts only for the current tab.

All of these are strictly necessary for, or directly requested by, something you asked the site to do, so under Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC — transposed in Slovakia by Act No. 452/2021 Coll. on electronic communications — they need no consent, and this notice is the information that is required instead. That is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner: there is nothing here to consent to. You can still block or delete these cookies in your browser; the language selector and sign-in stop working, the map does not.

If you sign in or book

A guest account is optional. Signing in uses a one-time code sent to your e-mail address. Making a booking is a contract with the campsite, not with us, and the data involved is covered by the separate Guest Privacy Notice at /legal/privacy.

Where the data is processed

The site and its database run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in the EU (Frankfurt). Map tiles are served from Cloudflare, and e-mail is delivered by Resend. The current list of sub-processors is at /legal/subprocessors. Transfers outside the EEA rely on an adequacy decision or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, export and erase your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent where processing rests on it. Write to hello@pitchpace.app.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Slovak supervisory authority (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov SR, Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava, dataprotection.gov.sk) or with the authority where you live.
