A small-scale family campsite in the dunes at Buren, the easternmost village of Ameland, with camping pitches, trekkershutten and rented chalets and lodges within walking distance of the sea. Dogs are accepted on two named camping fields and in the Chalet Plus type only.

About the camp

De Kiekduun markets itself as a quiet, natural camp where you wake up in the dunes and walk to the beach. It stays deliberately small: pitches on the walker's field are numbered rather than fenced, hedges screen the powered fields, and rabbits and pheasants roam between the tents, which is why dogs are kept to two fields. The camp names families with young children and older couples as its guests, and the facilities match: a large play field with a cage-football pen, volleyball net and table tennis, a modern sanitary building with a family room and baby bath, free hot showers without tokens, wifi, a souvenir shop and a snack counter at the reception. Catering runs in the family: the beach pavilion Sjoerd in Nes, named the best in the Netherlands in 2022, and the on-site Burgermeesters restaurant. A covered 25 m pool with a slide lies 250 m away at a neighbouring park.

The camp lies in the dunes at the east end of Ameland, a walk from the beach, with the village of Buren around it. Campers reach the island by ferry from Holwerd, and the site notes that foot passengers have needed a reserved ticket since 2024.
