About the camp
De Weidewagen is a small, quietly positioned camp in the countryside around Surhuizum. The camp describes itself as an idyll of green open space ringed by farmland, with rest and relaxation as its motto, and it is a place for quiet, space and nature rather than for entertainment. Fourteen pitches lie across the grounds, eleven of them with a 6 ampère hookup, and the site suits a camper, a car with caravan or a tent equally. The camp is affiliated with Stichting Vrije Recreatie, so SVR donors pay a lower nightly rate than everyone else. Everything a night needs is folded into that rate, so the extras are small: a day visitor, a leashed dog, a wash in the shared machine, the tourist tax. For a warm meal guests cross to Pannenkoekenhuis Landzicht or Snackbar Big Snack beside the camp, and the camp keeps information on local sights and things to do for those who want to be busy for a day.
