About the camp
Erve Kievit is the farm where Tonny was born, and he and his wife Mariette run it as a small motorhome site. The first house here was built in the 18th century and the last cow left the yard in 1992; the couple then spent two years building the pitches and facilities with their own hands, and welcomed their first guests in April 2022. They camp in a motorhome themselves, so the emphasis is on roomy pitches, cosy seating, a good hot water supply, wifi and above all large showers and toilets. Evenings end with sunsets over the meadows. It is a base for walking and cycling in the Buurserzand nature area, with highland cattle in het Witte Veen, the steam railway to Boekelo, and the shops and market square of Haaksbergen nearby.

De Veldmaat is now a residential quarter of Haaksbergen, a village in the south of Twente. Its market square still carries the medieval Pancratius church in local Bentheim sandstone, with the 18th century town hall and the old notary and doctor's houses around it. The Buurserzand nature area and the Boekelo steam railway are within a short distance.
