A kampeerboerderij (farm campsite) on a working butter-and-cheese farm 2 1/2 km outside the centre of Ruurlo, in the Achterhoek. The minicamping has 30 spacious pitches on one well-kept grass mat, spread over three fields with a different view and layout each, and is open all year.

About the camp

The camp sits in the Achterhoek's coulisse landscape of fields enclosed by hedgerows and woodland walls, planted as a food source for bumblebees and bees and a refuge for birds, and as shelter for the sheep and for guests. The farm still keeps its animals for children and grandchildren: a dwarf pony called Didi, a pair of sheep whose lambs leap about the meadow in spring, chickens and rabbits. Butter, karnemelk, kwark and yoghurt were made here by hand in the 80s and 90s; the old dairy equipment is still on show in the farm shop, which sells boerenkaas. Small children have a play meadow with a climbing frame, swings, slide, sandpit and trampoline, and beside the frog pond the farm laid two petanque courts. Bikes stand under roof in the former cow stable - almost every guest goes out by bicycle.

Ruurlo centre is 2 1/2 km off, with three supermarkets and a wide choice of catering; Kasteel Ruurlo with Museum MORE, the largest hedge maze in the world and the De Meene swimming pool are all in the village, and forest, heath and marked walking routes lie directly around the farm.
