NTKC De Heerkuil

NTKC De Heerkuil is the South Limburg ground of the Dutch camping club NTKC, lying in the hills at Sint Geertruid, 10 km east of Maastricht. It is grassland with sheltering hedges and trees, laid out in terraces: small sheltered pitches on the top terrace, larger camping meadows below. Nights are priced per person, tourist tax included.

About the camp
The club describes the ground as being "in het bronsgroen eikenhout", in the bronze-green oak wood, and it is a terraced piece of grassland in the hills of South Limburg. Sheltering growth and trees break the field up; the highest terrace carries small, sheltered pitches, while the lower terraces are somewhat larger camping meadows. The special feature is a wall of marl blocks, home to the flora and fauna typical of this landscape. The surrounding hills make cycling strenuous but pay it back with wide views: a ride along the Maas or into European Maastricht, a boat trip there, or a climb of the Sint Pietersberg with its cool caves beneath. Belgium and Germany are on the doorstep, so Liège, Aachen and Cologne are within reach.
