About the camp

The club calls the ground "fris, groen, open": fresh, green, open, and it lies snug against the dunes. The shape of the land has a history. It was once an "elzenmeet", a parcel of parallel drainage ditches with alder on both banks that were left to grow large, and today the grassland is broken up by shrubs and trees into bounded camping fields. From the ground you can walk or cycle straight into the dunes toward beach and sea. Nature is close by and worth the name: the reserve De Kwade Hoek, the walking route De Koploper over mudflats, salt marsh and creek, and De Punt van Goeree, where roe deer and a very great many bird species live. Ouddorp itself is a cosy village with an old centre that largely kept its authentic character, and the club suggests a walk along the bunkers, a ride on the old tram over the dam, and the goats at De Mekkerstee for the children.
