Stadscamping Deventer is a simple city campsite on the north bank of the river IJssel, directly opposite the Hanseatic city of Deventer and reached from the centre by a small foot ferry. Pitches are unmarked grass with free choice of spot, and the facilities are deliberately basic.

About the camp
The camp's own pitch is freedom and atmosphere rather than comfort: 'free, cheerful and familiar', with no delineated pitches, so campers choose their own spot in the sun, under the trees, with a view of the city or right at the water. You walk across the IJssel on the pontoon ferry, which runs until 23:00, into Deventer's narrow streets, shops, squares and terrace life, or cycle out into the wooded Salland countryside, the IJssel valley, the Veluwe and the Sallandse Heuvelrug. The nearby nature areas De Ossenwaarden and the river suit strolling, beaver-spotting and fishing. The sanitary block is basic but clean and partly movable for winter high water, and campers bring their own toilet paper. Two retro caravans and hire tents cover guests arriving without gear. Turning up without a booking is normal here; the site only fills up now and then around weekends, holidays and school holidays.

Quiet hours and no traffic on the site from 22:00 to 08:00. Phone 09:00-18:00 in summer, 17:00-18:00 in winter. Coming earlier than 13:00 is possible and counted as a half day.
