't Anker

Netherlands

A spacious family camp on the Grevelingenmeer at Nieuwe-Tonge (Battenoord) on Goeree-Overflakkee, run by the Tanis family for three generations. It offers roomy jaarplaatsen (annual pitches) for guests' own static caravans and chalets, custom-sized to the pitch and the unit.

About the camp

Camping 't Anker pitches itself as 'your second home on the Grevelingenmeer' — a rustig, spacious family camp where you find quiet and cosiness side by side. The camp has been in the Tanis family since its founding, and on 1 January 2019 control passed from Kommer to his son Klaes, the third generation; two families on site have been camping here for fifty years. Every pitch is made to measure, sized to the owner's static caravan or chalet and to the spot it sits on. The whole terrain backs onto the Grevelingenmeer, a former sea arm closed off after the 1953 flood and now the largest saltwater lake in South West Europe, where flamingos overwinter. A small marina for pleasure craft is a ten-minute walk away.
