About the camp
The long, narrow island lies with one side on the Kalverstraat and open view over De Vierde Plas on the other, grown over with oak, willow and birch, with wild flowers and brambles in summer. The club keeps its own watersport fleet there: sailing on Valk, Pico and Optimist dinghies, plus canoe, windsurf board and SUP, and weekend instruction days with an instructor or an experienced skipper, where children learn to sail in an Optimist. In the water a large marked-off bathing area can be swum in lanes, with a floating platform to sunbathe on. Ashore there is a fire pit, a simple sanitary building with toilets, a warm outdoor shower and a washing-up spot, and De Vierhut, the central clubhouse with a kitchen, a stove and watersport books.
