About the camp
Kampeerboerderij Hettinga is run by Paulus and Amarins Hettinga, the fourth generation of their family on this farm, who describe themselves as farmer and farmer's wife first and campsite hosts second. The camping sits on the Terkaplesterpoelen with pitches for tents, caravans and campers, seasonal and through-traveller places, and a view across the Frisian pasture. Guests can arrive by boat at the farm's own jetty, and canoes, pedal boats and paddleboards are free to use; children can ask to help milking or feeding the calves, and the yard has about 60 dairy cows, a donkey, a pot-bellied pig, a goat and a farm dog. A pipowagen for one to four people stands on the yard, and a group accommodation sleeps 15 to 50 in two dormitories.
