Autokemp Paľkov, listed by the regional tourist board as Kemping Klokočov, lies directly on the shore of the Zemplínska Šírava reservoir in eastern Slovakia and is run by the municipality of Klokočov. It has a heated masonry swimming pool, beach bars and room for about 90 campers and 70 tents on grass under trees.

About the camp

A municipal campsite on the grassy bank of Zemplínska Šírava, with pitches shaded by trees and a heated brick swimming pool of its own - the tourist board suggests it as the answer to a cold spell. Sanitary facilities are standard masonry blocks, described as well kept, with additional container sanitary units on the far side of the site and no extra charge for either; washing up is done in a shared kitchen. There are 86 electrical sockets, a drinking water supply and a chemical toilet disposal point, but no grey water point and no laundry. Beach bars stand on the grounds and a grocery shop is next to the campsite. Because the land is public, the site gets busy in high summer, as do the other camps around the reservoir.

The camp sits in the Zemplínska Šírava recreation area, where bars, guesthouses and restaurants run events through the summer and motorboats and cruises can be hired from spring to autumn. Thermalpark Šírava, the medieval church at Senderov, the Chlmecká skalka nature reserve, Jasenov castle, Vinianske jazero and the ruins of Vinné castle are all within reach.
